چکیده

This paper proposes secure regenerating codes that are composed of non-secure regenerating codes and a new all-or-nothing transform. Unlike the previous analysis of secure regenerating codes, the security of the proposed codes is analyzed in the sense of the indistinguishability. The advantage of the proposed codes is that the overhead caused by the security against eavesdropping is much less than that of previous secure regenerating codes. The security of the proposed codes against eavesdropping mainly depends on the new all-or-nothing transform. key words: regenerating code, secure regenerating code, all-or-nothing transform, indistinguishability

Hybrid Regenerating Codes for Distributed Storage Systems

Distributed storage systems are mainly justified due to their ability to store data reliably over some unreliable nodes such that the system can have long term durability. Recently, regenerating codes are proposed to make a balance between the repair bandwidth and the storage capacity per node. This is achieved through using the notion of network coding approach. In this paper, a new variation ...

Secure Regenerating Codes Based on Rashmi-Shah-Kumar MBR Codes

In this paper, we present a construction of (n, k, d,m) secure regenerating codes for distributed storage systems against eavesdroppers that can observe either data stored in at most m storage nodes or downloaded data for repairing at most m failed nodes in a network where m < k ≤ d ≤ n − 1. The (n, k, d,m) secure regenerating code is based on an (n, k, d) minimum bandwidth regenerating (MBR) c...

Exact Regenerating Codes for Distributed Storage

Erasure coding techniques are used to increase the reliability of distributed storage systems while minimizing storage overhead. The bandwidth required to repair the system after a node failure also plays a crucial role in the system performance. In [1] authors have shown that a tradeoff exists between storage and repair bandwidth. They also have introduced the scheme of regenerating codes whic...

A Note on Secure Minimum Storage Regenerating Codes

This short note revisits the problem of designing secure minimum storage regenerating (MSR) codes for distributed storage systems. A secure MSR code ensures that a distributed storage system does not reveal the stored information to a passive eavesdropper. The eavesdropper is assumed to have access to the content stored on l1 number of storage nodes in the system and the data downloaded during ...

Codes with Combined Locality and Regeneration Having Optimal Rate, $d_{\text{min}}$ and Linear Field Size

In this paper, we study vector codes with all-symbol locality, where the local code is either a Minimum Bandwidth Regenerating (MBR) code or a Minimum Storage Regenerating (MSR) code. In the first part, we present vector codes with all-symbol MBR locality, for all parameters, that have both optimal minimum-distance and optimal rate. These codes combine ideas from two popular codes in the distri...
